Can't sign in to the ExamQR desktop app

The desktop app signs in through your browser with a short code. If the browser doesn't open, the code expired or the network blocks ExamQR, here is what to do.

The ExamQR desktop app never asks for your password. When you click Sign in with ExamQR, your browser opens a page on app.examqr.com where you sign in and allow the app. The app shows a code that must match the one on the web page.

How you recognise it

  • “The browser did not open. Copy the link below into a browser.”
  • “The code expired. Click Sign in to get a new one.”
  • “The sign-in was denied in the browser.”
  • “Cannot reach ExamQR. Check your internet connection and try again.”
  • “Too many sign-ins from this network right now. Wait a few minutes and try again.”
  • “This device was signed out of your account. Please sign in again.” or “ExamQR has not been able to check your account for a long time. Connect to the internet and sign in again.”
  • On the web page: “This code is wrong or has expired. Check the code in the app, or start the sign-in again in the app.” or “Too many wrong codes. Try again in 15 minutes.”

Fix it

  1. Click Sign in with ExamQR. In the browser, sign in with your ExamQR account (no account yet? You can create a free one there; the Free plan is enough for the desktop app).
  2. Check that the code on the web page is the same as Your code in the app, then click Allow. The app signs in within a few seconds.
  3. If the browser did not open, click Copy link and open the link in any browser, even on your phone. You can also go to app.examqr.com/desktop/connect and type the code.
  4. A code is valid for 10 minutes. If it expired, click Sign in with ExamQR again to get a new one.
  5. The web page shows which account you are allowing. If it is the wrong one, sign out in the browser, sign in with the right account and open the link again.
  6. “Cannot reach ExamQR. Check your internet connection and try again.” means this computer cannot reach app.examqr.com. Check the Internet connection, or ask IT to allow HTTPS to app.examqr.com.
  7. After signing in, the app works offline for up to 30 days. After that it needs the Internet once to check your account.
  8. If the device was signed out from the website (Desktop devices on your profile), just sign in again.
