How it works

  1. Upload your Word or PDF file. For scans, PDFs or free layouts, tick Convert with AI.

  2. The test is converted once into the standard Word table, with formulas and images kept.

  3. Download it as a Word table, a QTI 2.1 package (.zip) or a Moodle XML file (.xml).

  4. For QTI and Moodle, read the list of anything that could not be carried over, then import the file into your LMS.

Frequently asked questions

What is the standard format?
A Word table with one row per question: number, code, content, correct answer and question type. Formulas and images stay in place. The shuffler, the question import and the online exam builder all read this table.
What is QTI and which systems can import it?
QTI (Question and Test Interoperability) is the IMS standard for exchanging tests. The package follows QTI 2.1 with an IMS Content Packaging manifest, for systems that import QTI 2.1. Canvas Classic Quizzes expects QTI 1.2 instead, so it does not read this package.
Which question types are exported to QTI?
Single choice, multiple response, true/false statements, short answer, essay, matching and word ordering. A shared passage is repeated with each of its questions. Anything that cannot be represented is listed in the result message, never dropped silently.
Do I need AI to convert?
No. A Word file already in the template, or written as numbered questions with lettered answers, is converted for free. PDFs, scans and messy layouts use AI conversion, which needs a teacher account and credits, and is refunded in full if it fails.
Are the correct answers and scores kept?
Correct answers are kept. Each question is worth 1 point, and true/false groups use the 0.1 / 0.25 / 0.5 / 1 rule when the test defines it. Essay questions are left for manual marking.
How do I import the Moodle XML file, and what is different from the original?
In Moodle, open the course, go to the Question bank, choose Import, pick the format "Moodle XML" and select the file. Each part becomes a category, pictures are embedded and formulas become TeX for the MathJax filter. Moodle has no exact equivalent for some things: a multiple-response question gives partial credit when only some of the right answers are ticked (any wrong pick still scores 0), the statements of a true/false group become separate true/false questions, word ordering becomes a matching question, and a shared passage becomes a description placed before its questions. Everything of this kind is listed in the result message.
